431- Mastermind Ladies- Summer Story Series

When we first came together, we had no idea what we were building would last nearly a decade. What started as a group of seven women meeting in Cancun for a peer-led mastermind evolved into something far deeper: a soul-nourishing container for growth, connection, and radical support. Some of us had known each other for years, others only met on a Southwest flight, and still others “butted in” at just the right moment. What we shared was a hunger for something real—space to be seen, heard, and challenged in both life and business.

Women linking arms.

a simple yes that started it all

When we first came together, we had no idea what we were building would last nearly a decade. What started as a group of seven women meeting in Cancun for a peer-led mastermind evolved into something far deeper: a soul-nourishing container for growth, connection, and radical support. Some of us had known each other for years, others only met on a Southwest flight, and still others “butted in” at just the right moment. What we shared was a hunger for something real—space to be seen, heard, and challenged in both life and business.

Letting the Group Evolve

Over time, the group evolved. Some members left as life seasons changed, and what remained was a core of four women with vastly different business models, perspectives, and personalities—but a shared commitment to showing up. We chose locations intentionally—Mexico became our go-to, not just for the spa days and endless chips and guac, but because all-inclusive resorts freed our minds from logistical decisions so we could dive deep into conversation. We’ve also gathered in Palm Springs, Nashville, Texas, and Vegas—wherever the season (and the budget) called us.

Embracing Differences as Strength

What makes this work isn’t similarity—it’s synergy. We all serve different audiences and operate different kinds of businesses, yet we’ve found a rhythm. We’ve learned each other’s superpowers: the connector, the cheerleader, the strategist, the operator. We’ve supported each other through scaling and burnout, cashflow highs and recession scares, personal breakdowns and joyful celebrations. And we’ve cried—a lot. Not because we’re in our forties, but because life is hard, business is harder, and this group has been our soft landing and strategic boardroom all in one.

From Strategy to Shelling: How We Structure Our Time

Our trips aren’t just about strategy (though we do plenty of that). They’re about presence. We sit poolside for hours, plan excursions like whale watching or shelling, and choose one really beautiful meal to treat ourselves. We each get time in the “hot seat,” where we take turns sharing the real behind-the-scenes of our business or personal lives and receive feedback from the group. We’ve had conversations that changed the trajectory of our businesses and others that reminded us why we started. And through it all, we’ve shared hilarious moments—from whale sightings to broken-down Ubers to fiercely protective “mama bear” window-banging at fancy French restaurants.

Advice for Creating Your Own Mastermind

If you’re thinking of starting your own mastermind, our best advice is this: lead with heart. Be willing to risk. Be vulnerable. Stay open. Choose people who aren’t your competitors but who stretch you, inspire you, and challenge you to keep growing. It takes time to cultivate the kind of culture where deep truth can be shared—and heard with love. But if you do, you just might find yourself a few years later with a group of ride-or-dies, a camera roll full of dolphins and dome homes, and a heart full of gratitude that you said yes.
